Today, I have directed the immediate setting up of the MCA Greater Unity Plan Taskforce to come up with action plans and execute swiftly the Plan's three main thrusts, namely Uniting the Party; Healing; and Transforming and Rebranding the MCA. The Taskforce will be headed by deputy president Dato' Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek. Other members include the Party's four vice-presidents, Youth chief, Wanita chief, the secretary-general, Senator Heng Seai Kie, Mr Gan Ping Sieu, Dato' Chong Itt Chew, Mr Loh Seng Kok and Mr Simon Lim.
The MCA's Greater Unity Plan was announced some two weeks ago and has received overwhelming support from Party leaders and the grassroots, including backing from two-thirds of the Central Committee in writing. MCA members at all levels are eager to see the GUP take shape, and translated into action. Now is the time to make the GUP work.
I will be monitoring the progress of the Taskforce closely and expects periodic and detailed feedback. Translating the GUP from mere words into actional plans, and subsequently delivering on them is of utmost importance now. This includes a retreat involving Party top brass to brainstorm on how best MCA should move forward from now on and to mobilise local leaders to explain what the GUP is all about.
The MCA has had enough distractions over the past one year and cannot waste any more time winning back public support in time for the next general election. I am sure when the GUP takes root - right down to the divisional and branch levels - skeptics to the Plan will change their minds. They will be able to see that the healing process cannot be delayed any longer. I am also confident they will realise that at the end of the day, winning back support from the community is more important than winning posts in the Party.

Since the traitors had failed to take over the MCA leadership after hijacking the Oct 10 EGM, they proposed the first resolution with the hope to take over the MCA leadership in the fresh election if called.
The reason for the 2nd resolution is to help them to win in the fresh election if called, with the help of those whom you have sacked by reinstating them in their positions.
So, I hope that the majority of the central delegates realised their motives and rejected both the resolutions if they wish to participate in the 2nd EGM.
They are crazy about positions and power rather than unity.
