Today, I have directed the immediate setting up of the MCA Greater Unity Plan Taskforce to come up with action plans and execute swiftly the Plan's three main thrusts, namely Uniting the Party; Healing; and Transforming and Rebranding the MCA. The Taskforce will be headed by deputy president Dato' Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek. Other members include the Party's four vice-presidents, Youth chief, Wanita chief, the secretary-general, Senator Heng Seai Kie, Mr Gan Ping Sieu, Dato' Chong Itt Chew, Mr Loh Seng Kok and Mr Simon Lim.
The MCA's Greater Unity Plan was announced some two weeks ago and has received overwhelming support from Party leaders and the grassroots, including backing from two-thirds of the Central Committee in writing. MCA members at all levels are eager to see the GUP take shape, and translated into action. Now is the time to make the GUP work.
I will be monitoring the progress of the Taskforce closely and expects periodic and detailed feedback. Translating the GUP from mere words into actional plans, and subsequently delivering on them is of utmost importance now. This includes a retreat involving Party top brass to brainstorm on how best MCA should move forward from now on and to mobilise local leaders to explain what the GUP is all about.
The MCA has had enough distractions over the past one year and cannot waste any more time winning back public support in time for the next general election. I am sure when the GUP takes root - right down to the divisional and branch levels - skeptics to the Plan will change their minds. They will be able to see that the healing process cannot be delayed any longer. I am also confident they will realise that at the end of the day, winning back support from the community is more important than winning posts in the Party.

At the time when MCA is facing such a magnitude challenge plagued with impasse of the century, it is commendable that the leaders have come up with GUP, the vision of both the President and his Deputy to put MCA into a united, and respected party. All principal office bearers are morally, politically and constitutionally bound to support the GUP as it has been tabled by the President in the CC’s meeting which has been accepted and endorsed. Snubbing it is undemocratic and deemed irresponsible thus inviting disciplinary actions.
WKS talked about people’s power yesterday - Party Constitution vs the People’s Power. Quoting Philippines as an example. The political systems practise by both our country and Philippines are miles apart. And WKS must realize that he is factually wrong by claiming to enjoy the majority support of the people. Please, to avoid mayhem or anarchy in the party RESPECT THE CONSTITUTION OF THE PARTY and do not be so desperate to trample it for selfish ends. Do not set precedence!!!
As GUP has been accepted by the majority of the CCMs( 27) as of the day when it was tabled, I hope the minority led by LTL to join hand to implement it for the survival of the party. LTL and gang have to wake up and face reality that they are the MINORITY and should come to their senses. The worst should have happen to a person is to be in delusion by deceiving himself when everything is written all over the wall that the President and his Deputy enjoy the support of the majority in the CC, members and Malaysians. LET THE EGO GO and serve the nation through MCA and GUP has been proven to be INCLUSIVE.
Dear MCA members lets unite implementing GUP to serve rather than the infightings sapping our energies as consequently there will be no winners as the winners shall be left with empty shell to lick its woounds.
