I am often asked about the Port Klang Authority’s success in turning around the Port Klang Free Zone. I would say that it is only appropriate for us to allow the figures do the talking.

This year, from January to September, PKFZ has achieved containerised cargo of 38,170 TEUs compared with 6,021 TEUs for the same period in 2008, representing an increase of 534 per cent.

In terms of tonnage of cargo handled, for the first nine months of this year, PKFZ has achieved 1.11 million tonnes, compared with 263,570 tonnes for the same period last year, or a rise of 321 per cent. We could see that there has been a remarkable improvement as far as the volume of cargo is concerned.

I am thankful that PKA and the PKFZ Sdn Bhd have put in enormous efforts over the past few months to turn PKFZ around. These statistics show my commitment to the PKFZ turnaround plan which is some of the unfinished work that I have been talking about. With the recent signing of the MoU between PKFZ and Marseilles Fos Port authority, we are confident and hopeful that this will give PKFZ an additional boost. The geographic advantage of Marseilles port will definitely serve as a very good distribution hub for halal and other products from PKFZ which serves as a procurement hub for the Euro-Mediterranean and North African regions.

About four months ago, during my visit to Marseille, I stopped over in London where PKFZ received accreditation from the London Metal Exchange. This was another morale booster for PKFZ, with LME metals now being distributed from the free zone.

All these milestones actually involve a lot of hands-on work, and now that we could see such initiative beginning to bear fruits. The facts and figures speak louder than anything else. The statistics is testimony that we can cross one hurdle after another.

WE WANT JUSTICE
written by Ken GK 5S, November 02, 2009
Dear Datuk Seri,
We want justice to be done 1st. Those who stole the billions are still there enjoying their lives. Your figures looked good but we are very frustrated with the actions to put them behind bars. Are their planes really freezed or still flying? Who is checking? Police may be giving only lips service or wayang. Problem in Malaysia is that everything can go 'under-table'.
Keep Up the Good Work at PKFZ !

Dear Datuk Seri,

PKFZ is a world class facility which will attract the right level of investment and occupancy once it has been marketed fully with competitive incentives for investors, both foreign and domestic. We understand that the task force set up by the PM will look into this and it is not difficult to consider providing suitable incentives like tax holidays, exemptions on import and excise taxes and even RPGT, similar to what other projects of this size are supported by other governments, in order to make it successful. PKFZ has the perfect infrastructure in place today to attract the most sophisticated and high cost industries as proven by some of the tenants already. Perhaps the next high profile tenant could be a Windmill for energy assembly operation for the region ? With our focus on Green energy it's probably not inconceivable that such an industry can be attracted to PKFZ to service the region.

We must consider PKFZ as an "unpolished diamond" and with the right polish, the "diamond" will shine and will be priceless! I must say that in Dato' Lee Hwa Beng and Mr Chia, we have probably the two best people to make PKFZ successful, allied with the utmost support from Datuk Seri !

Please keep up the good work and time will tell us how successful and beneficial this facility will be for the nation !

Mr. President,
Recently a Manager who was convicted of embezzlement was sentenced to imprisonment plus a few strokes of the rotan. Therefore the court should also impose imprisonment as well as rotan for those found guilty of corruption especially in the PKFZ case.Since the amount is so huge comapred to the above mentioned case the court should impose a more severe sentence. A few more strokes of the rotan will do justice to all taxpayers. All readers agreed with my suggestion?

Mr. President,
If eventually those found guilty of the PKFZ scandal are not being convicted due one reason or another it may show that crime does pay and it pay handsomely at least in Malaysia. However we must remember that we live a very short life in this world eventually when we die we will have to answer to GOD's justice. There is no escaping. This justice is far worse than anthing on earth because GOD have given us many chances to repent. You cannot tell GOD that you are innocent in stealing the Rakyat money! So those guilty people please repent while there is still time because you are still alive.
