I would like to thank Party supporters and Malaysians in general for the thousands of messages and calls showing concern for me after the EGM. Your words of support and encouragement have given me great comfort. Rest assured I will do what needs to be done in the best interest of Party.

MCA is capable of solving its own problems through its own internal mechanisms. The crisis that the Party is facing right now is typical of any organisation that calls for change and reforms, particularly the eradication of unacceptable and decadent practices. The Party is now at a crossroad. We can either change or carry on at our own peril.

We have to take stock of what has happened and learn our past lessons. Ultimately, we hope that the Party emerge wiser and more matured. The Party must stay united as it gets back on track to forge forward with greater confidence after the dust settles down.

I am a MCA member. The Saturday result was shocking to me. I am doubtful if the Central Delegate really represent the view of the grass root member. I am wondering if there is any provision in the MCA Constitution to allow for referendum on your leadership, as the no confidence vote on your leadership is razor thin of 14 votes.

I believe the Chinese community in general approve of your leadership and agreed with your view that a leader should be of capability with high moral value. A leader tainted with questionable character and shown no repent MUST not be allowed to lead the MCA. As such, I truly hope that a referendum should be called to end the "leadership crisis" as the result of the referendum will reflect the true view of the grass root member who have no personal interest or hidden agenda.

Finally, wish you all the best

Dear Datuk~

Although i'm not the rite people to give advise for you,but i "beh tahan" must speak out my tought!~
My thinking is..,if half of the MCA rep's do not want you to be their leader becoz of "many special reason"~! Just leave, let them choose a leader tht "suit" most for them for special reason!~ Just become a normal
MCA member or just to be a non party parliment member. Just like what had been done by Datuk Sharil samad in Johor bahru. If they still not enough which demand u to step down as parliment member, nevermind, just step down and call a by election in you seat!~ I believe, you will surely win back the seat as a non party parliment member!~ YOU WIN back chinese community heart, you gain your reputation!~ But for faith of the MCA in comming GE...,i doubt!~
May God bless you datuk~!

Dun give up!

Dun give up for the negative outcome of the EGM. You are the only so far dare to challenge and create new hope for us. I dun actally support any party but I think that a party always relies on the leader who has courage to change. Like the current PKFZ scandal...because you open up this investigation, we never know the truth...

Dun give up...smilies/kiss.gif

Datuk Seri,

Before you make the ultimate sacrifice of resigning the Presidency, I would like you to consider the following:

1.The motion of ‘no confidence’ was carried by a majority of 14 votes. That means, if 7 of the ‘no confidence’ delegates had voted otherwise, the motion would have been defeated.

2.Article 35 of the MCA constitution expressly stipulates that Party Officials (elected or appointed) can only be removed by a 2/3 majority of the delegates present and voting at a General Assembly. The rationale is obvious. It is to avoid just this situation – where the position of the Presidency turns upon the votes of a few delegates.

3.Article 23 permits the CC to fill any vacancy until the next General Assembly but it is made expressly subject to article 40 which stipulates that only the Deputy President can replace the President in the event that the President ceases to hold office.

4.There is no Deputy President. In such event, article 167 mandates you to hold office until a new President is validly elected to replace you.

5.Having regard to the apparent deadlock in the support of the 2 factions in the General Assembly, convening another EGM to elect a President would be highly undesirable. In this case, it is perhaps time for the CC to consider returning to the grassroots. To the ordinary members who are not swayed by any vested interests on either side.

6.It is perhaps time for the CC to invoke article 171 and refer the Presidency and the future direction of the Party to a referendum.

Although not an MCA member, I personally believe you still command the support of the vast majority of the ordinary members of the Party. Your office carries with it onerous responsibilities to the Party, its members and to the Chinese community in general. Such responsibilities require you to think of more than the few delegates who comprised the wafer-thin majority at the EGM.

Sincerely,
George Lo.

Stay On For The Sake Of The Community
written by choyyk, October 14, 2009
I sincerely hope you stay on to complete the party reforms. This will be your greatest service to the party and the community. Ignore all the noises made by the various self serving and power crazy individuals. Like you have said, you will act in the best interest of the party. To me and many fellow Malaysians the best interest means you stay and complete the tasks you have set out to do.
Your detractors know that you are a man of principle which I am sure you take great pride in. However, to them it is also the weakness which they are trying their utmost to exploit by asking you to keep your promise to resign so that they can take over control of the party. Your greatest disservice to MCA will be to acceed to their wishes and demand and hand over power to them on a platter.
Some former leaders, for obvious reasons, are asking for fresh party elections of office bearers by the current group of central delegates (whom they refer to as the "grass root"). Have they conveniently forgotten the general membership who are the real grass root. Therefore if at all fresh elections are to be held it should involve branch as well as division elections and the election of a new group of central delegates. Well, these same people will say that will be very time consuming and a waste of resources. If that is the case please help them to ease their concern by staying on.
