I respect the decision made by the central delegates at the MCA EGM yesterday. The results have sent certain messages which I could see are now being interpreted in the press by different parties in many ways.

I have also received many feedback, appeals and advice, which I truly appreciate. The Central Committee will discuss all avenues and angles regarding the results and the immediate future of the party.

I take full responsibility for the outcome of the EGM and will act in the best interests of the Party after consultation with my colleagues and supporters and the deliberations of the next Central Committee meeting.

We should ask those who criticize you and put pressure on you Datuk Seri.

What wrong has Tee Keat done? What has Tee Keat not done for the Chinese community? To go on, we ask what benefits are there if Tee Keat resigns from his Presidency when MCA is in a critical stage after the severe loss in the General Election?

Squatters, students, constituents, needy people, and the community have all benefited with MCA's help and Tee Keat's politics in this country given the "weak position" of MCA in today's testing times.

We then ask, when will MCA learn the political model of transition and put an end to the two faction system in the party ? MCA will never learn. I blame the delegates and those who shout the claims that they are out to save MCA. I am disappointed.

Fear not, worry not I tell all MCA members, delegates and the community. Tee Keat is a man of principles without an inch of doubt.

He made a promise to MCA members and not just the delegates. He made a promise to the community and not just MCA. He made a promise to the people and not just the Chinese.

These promises must not be forgotten and we ask, why don't we tell Tee Keat to stay on and fulfill his promises, dreams and vision of 1MCA 1Team?

These are also principles if not promises and they truly overwrite the emotional words or promises uttered in the leadership tussle with Soi Lek.

Datuk Seri, please stay on. I will support you all the way !

Dear Dato Seri

Please believe that the Malaysians irregardless of races are looking towards u as the leader that dare to go against the tide and to voice out in the interest of transparency and accountablity .ie the PKFZ saga...

Therefore do stay on and finish off what you have started.. i know u r not quitter... the EGM does not represent the voice of the Rakyat...we want you to stay..moreover the no confidence resolution does not carry.. it does not have the 2/3 support of the delegates as required by the MCA constitution... if u quit it will set a very very bad precedent... what does it mean if you quit? that it does not require 2/3 support to remove the president? if so why set the rules at the first place? Why set the rules if there is no intention to abide by it? Therefore Dato Seri, please abide by the constitution and stay on as President of MCA and Transport Minister as we need you more than ever before...

Please continue your goodwork and the quest for transparency and acocuntability ... knowing that the majority of Malaysians like me are solidly behind you and when the going get tough, the tough gets going...

Regards

Vincent
Najib's Reported Remarks In The Malaysia Insider Blog
written by Choy YUe Kwong, October 11, 2009
I would like to post here the same posting which I sent to The Malaysian Insider Blog this evening in response to Najib's reported remarks about the EGM.

" Did Najib offer to resign when he nearly lost his Pekan seat in the 1999(?) general election. Pekan was his home town and he should have won with a big margin. Winning only marginally in his own home base implied rejection by his own people. With due respect I wonder whether he is a suitable person to advise on whether OTK should resign or not based on the result of the just concluded EGM. By even hinting about it is considered as unwelcome interference in the internal affairs of MCA.

Btw it appears to me that some in UMNO are rather pleased with the result of the EGM thanks to a group of shortsighted MCA delegates. I personally think that OTK should not gift his enemies by resigning because the EGM RESULTS ARE INCONCLUSIVE, meaning that it has not solved the leadership problem within MCA. Resigning will create a leadership vacuum in MCA. I do not think that the current batch of Vice Presidents has the clout to garner the support of the Malaysian Chinese. OTK should stay on to carry out reforms within the party so as to regain the support of the Malaysian
Chinese. In fact the general public, including the Chinese, are very pleased with his handling of the PKFZ issue. The only people who are unhappy are those who may be criminally involved in one way or another in the PKFZ project. The Chinese community are beginning to warm up to the MCA again. If OTK goes, I am afraid all the good work will go down the drain.

Najib as well as some others with vested interest said that the wishes of the delegates must be respected. Given the way by which delegates are elected in MCA I seriously doubt they represent the view of the majority of the ordinary members. Has anyone bothered to ask whether, we, the public 's (and ultimately the voters' ) view must be respected or not. In fact I suggest the the MCA should hold a REFERENDUM among all its members to gauge the feeling of the members on whether OTK should stay or go. Only after the referendum should OTK decide whether to resign or stay depending on the outcome of the referendum.

Some say that OTK being a man of his words and a man of principle should resign based on the outcome of the recent EGM. I too agree with that PROVIDED that a strong leader replaces him as a result of the EGM. Now that the other contender is only just an ordinary member, MCA will be seriously weaken should OTK go now. Therefore, being a responsible person and in the INTEREST OF THE PARTY,
OTK should stay on to lead the party until the next party election or at least until the proposed referendum says otherwise."

Dear Datuk Seri,

Your battle has not ended yet. You must not consider the future of the party only. You must also think about the future of the Chinese community as a whole. You are still the preference of Malaysians(according to a lot of public surveys).

Ofcourse, there was a lesson to learn in such a complicated political situation. We urge you to take it as another political challenge and overcome it by making all the 1151 delegates regret of their votes.

Whatever your decisions are, we will be there to support you.

From a voice of ordinal public.

Hi Tee Keat,

My advise to you: Should not resign as president

Reason:
1. The vote against you not even up to 2/3 majority.
2. Even though 51% don't like you, but you still have 49% like you.
3. A lot of chinese have been following the election. This is a good chance to get back the chinese votes. Unfortunately you fail. DAP will benefit from this.
4. I don't think existing CC members can takeover your place. Without you, MCA will be just a "yes" man to UMNO. I don't think the subsequent MCA leaders can get back chinese votes. In the recent Penang election, out of 2000 chinese votes, BN only managed to get 300 votes. Now, DAP represents Chinese in Malaysia, not MCA.
5. Being a leader who has a very strong principles, don't expect all people to like you. You cannot resign just because a bit more people don't like you. You need to finish at least one term.
6. Need to stay for a while to make sure the next level of leaders have time to prepare.

Wish you all the best!
dun give up

Please do not give up easily and continue to fight for the right of Chinese here. To Chua SL, Yen Yen, Ka Chuan and all so called third force members, history will remember how you all ruin the party.
We, The Rakyat wants you to STAY ON.
written by Serene, October 12, 2009
You have promised us courage and change.
Please live by your words and stay on.
We do not care about the EGM outcome, we want YOU TO STAY ON as THE LEADER OF THE CHINESE COMMUNITY, because you have been THE BEST and THE MOST COURAGEOUS.
