Dear
Comrades,
This
letter may come as a surprise to some but I wanted to write this so that I am
able to express my heartfelt gratitude to all you for your
kind and firm support, assistance and prayers. They have helped me cement
my belief that we are on the right track towards a better and more relevant
MCA.
I have been trying to stretch the hours in a
day as much as I possibly can but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to spare much time for each and every one of you despite my best
efforts. Your patience with me is truly appreciated.
At the risk of sounding clichéd, it has
been your words of support and encouragement that has kept me going these last
few months. So many people from
all walks of life, including your good selves, have sent me SMSes, emails,
messages, called me up and just coming up to be for a hand-shake. These heart
warming gestures have all helped strengthen my resolve to push forward and
stand up for what is right.
Perhaps it is time to take stock of
where we are and where we are headed. Our party’s struggle is something that affects us all and it is
heartening to note your continuous dedication to MCA’s well-being and with
that, the Chinese community’s well-being and that of Malaysians in general, is
steadfast and passionate.
It is precisely that passion and
dedication that matters. We might have differing political ideas, but that
does not mean we don’t want the same bright future for MCA and for the
Malaysian Chinese. Disagreements should not be the yardstick for party
growth. It should be our unity, commitment and passion that are
important to bring about the changes needed for the benefit of MCA and our community
at-large.
We understand that the most urgent
agenda for us, above all else, is for MCA to regain lost ground by strengthening
the economy, ensure just and equitable policies, enhance inter-ethnic relations
and to bring in young members. Therefore, we must continue to push ahead
with our agenda for change.
The upcoming EGM is opportunity for us
to prove to the community and Malaysians that we are very serious about changing
ourselves. We can choose the right path towards an era of integrity and
accountability, or we can let MCA falter and then wonder why we have lost the
trust of our community. The decision is in your hands. I have
complete faith that you will make the right choice based on your wisdom.
Once these choices are made, we can
start our real work. We then must stand together as party comrades to bring about the
changes that I had mentioned earlier. I assure you, by changing ourselves for the
better; we will win back the support of the Chinese community and the Malaysian
people.
Until then, please know that it is
because of you that I know I can keep standing up for transparency, accountability and credibility although
the road ahead may be fraught with challenges. It is because of you, that I want to uphold values and
unity of the Party. And it is because of you that I give you my word to not
give up or give in for doing what is right. I urge you to do the same.
Together as 1MCA 1Team, we will rise again!
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Ong Tee Keat

It is sad, to know all these people around and make MCA a mess.To be frank with you i been voted to opposition party candidate for the past few election but I hope we can gain back our trust with the effort that you put on
