This morning I have made a police report against Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing for criminal defamatory statements made against me.

I categorically deny that I have received a RM10 million loan as alleged by Dato’ Seri Tiong.

This is the work of people who are out to undermine my integrity and obligations as Minister of Transport and President of MCA.

It is clear that the motive and intentions of these individuals are to derail the efforts of the Ministry of Transport and Port Klang Authority with regards the issue of Port Klang Free Zone.

I treat this as another hurdle of the many that I have faced in my efforts to protect the interest of the people.

I have also instructed my lawyers to write a letter of demand to the makers of the defamatory statements to withdraw the allegation and apologise within 7 days failing which I will institute legal proceedings against the party concerned.

My lawyers have been instructed to file an injunction to prevent the perpetrators of this grievous misdeed from making further defamatory allegations.

As President of MCA, I am confident that the party is strong enough to withstand such challenges and efforts to undermine it.

MACC officers quiz Kuala Dimensi CEO over PKFZ scandal
By LOURDES CHARLES

KUALA LUMPUR: Embattled Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing was quizzed by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers over the PKFZ scandal as well as his allegations against MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

It is learnt that three MACC officers went to Tiong’s office here on Thursday at 2pm and grilled him for more than four hours. His lawyers were also present as Tiong had been given notice of the MACC’s arrival. The officers left at 6.30pm, taking along several files.

Tiong, who is Bintulu MP and also the treasurer-general of the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party, was said to have handed over files and documents to the officers pertaining to the allegations.

The MACC started investigations following reports lodged last week by Port Klang Authority chairman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng alleging that Tiong’s Kuala Dimensi – the turnkey contractor for the construction of the PKFZ – was allegedly involved in possible fraud, unsubstantiated claims and overcharging amounting to hundreds of millions of ringgit.

Lee lodged the reports following the findings of a special task force set up on June 10 to look into the legal and financial aspects of PKA and PKFZ.

It is learnt that the MACC also quizzed Tiong regarding his allegation that he had given MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat a RM10mil loan.

Besides Tiong, who is also the Backbenchers Club chairman, the MACC officers also questioned and recorded statements from Kuala Dimensi deputy CEO Datuk Faisal Abdullah who alleged that Ong had travelled on the company’s jet without making any payment.

Ong, who has vehemently denied accepting a RM10mil loan from Tiong, has not only lodged a police report against Tiong for the alleged defamation but also gave Tiong seven days to apologise, failing which he (Ong) would initiate legal proceedings.

As to the allegation that he used their company’s jet without paying, the Transport Minister said that he had yet to receive the billings for the use of the jet.

Ong said the wild allegations against him were the move by certain people to undermine his integrity and obligation as Transport Minister.

He added that his lawyers had been instructed to file an injunction to prevent the perpetrator from making further defamatory allegations.

Tee Keat,
If UMNO dislikes you to be as President of MCA, have you thought of convening an EGM & seek a resolution from MCA delegates to pull out MCA from UMNO lead coalition ? Clearly MCA is subsevient to UMNO for far too many years and UMNO leadership expect MCA leadership to kowtow & continuing to be subsevient to UMNO. They will undermine your leadership by hook and by crook at all costs !

You seem to blame your duly elected Deputy, Dato'Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek for any misdeed and misfortune that fall upon you and of your wrong doing such as the RM10 million allegedly given to you in 3 instalments by Tiong King Sing as "donation", " loan", "bribe" or " political funds" whatever it is called.

Your memories seem to be very short. It was you, as President of MCA started to sideline and marginalise your duly elected Deputy President and you have consistently keep your deputy off the communication loop including all meetings on internal matters of MCA.

So, you are digging into your own political grave ! dont blame others suchas Lim Kit Siang, Chua Soi Lek !

Tee Keat playing political 'Wheel of Fortune'

It is all about timing. Embattled MCA president Ong Tee Keat tactically pulled off at short notice, a special briefing for some 1,000 party divisional officials fulfilling the compelling need to consolidate a firmer support from grass-root rank-and-file leaders.

And at the same time, he also successfully delivered a psychological blow against his deputy president Chua Soi Lek for allegedly working hand-in-hand with external forces to overthrow his presidency.

It was an explanation the entire divisional network was waiting to hear about the latest RM10 million allegation which Sarawakian tycoon Tiong King Sing (left), who is also the BN Backbenchers Chairman, had claimed to have given to Ong in three instalments last year.

Apparently not all at the gathering were satisfied with Ong's detailed explanation of the RM10 million allegedly given to him was in vengeance for the Port Klang Free Trade Zone (PKFZ) saga in which Tiong is under investigation for his role as CEO in Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB).

Others believed the president's explanation and this may put to rest lingering suspicions for the time being.

Tiong told Malaysiakini last week that he had given RM10 million to Ong last year to support MCA activities.

Rebutting criticism that the special briefing was more like a "Save Ong" leadership event, Tee Keat who spoke in Mandarin, said "When I had previously said that there were both internal and external threats, there was a voice in the party saying I was stage-acting.

"But with the latest happenings (the RM10 million allegation), some leaders admitted that they finally saw these threats coming," Ong added.

The party president claimed that he had obtained feedback on the various threats, comparing an attack against the MCA (leadership) akin to a ship in the middle of the ocean threatened by the waves.

"That included a leader from Sarawak orchestrating a political party (based in Sarawak) but intending to make inroads into the peninsular (to fight against MCA under Ong's leadership).

"And another rumour about the setting up of a political party currently Indian ethnic based (Makkal Sakthi) but encouraging membership from other BN parties including MCA (to defect),"

Ong elaborated on the examples of the 'threats' after feedback from his supporters.

'Making something out of nothing'

On the RM10 million take, Ong said he did not receive anything, adding "When there is nothing, how could you turn nothing into something, unless you are master illusionist David Copperfield."

"A non-party friend also alerted me on the quantity and size of how much RM10 million is. To carry it, you need some 2 to 4 James Bond (brand) bags to fill in the amount and it also takes a few people to carry it," Ong taking a pot shot on allegations that he had taken the money alone.

But the most damning revelation was Ong's claim that some quarters within the party were conspiring or having links to certain people in PKFZ, including raising a huge amount of funds to topple his leadership.

"As long as I am transport minister I will do everything to handle this issue. We handle the issue and not target the personality," Ong (right) said as a matter of fact.

"The Opposition (DAP) scolded me for one month (posing three questions per day) and in my life I have never faced such fierce scolding before. But I kept my silence and patience."

Ong says the recent threats and allegations would not deter his efforts to pursue his efforts (and his ministry) to bring justice to the scandal.

"Ten days after I was elected party president on October 18 last year, I had directed PricewaterhouseCoopers to make an investigative report because this is a time bomb for the party (involving former MCA leaders)," he told the gathering.

"It is better we (MCA) deal with this rather than waiting till the next general elections," Ong said.

"I had taken a step at a time (on the PKFZ) and whenever I moved ahead, (metaphorically speaking) I could feel being dragged or grabbed at all sides, pulling me back."

"There were people telling me not to worry about PKFZ and that all will be forgotten. Or to cover it up, which I think we cannot, it is a time bomb," Ong reiterated the feedback when the attention on PKFZ first surfaced.

"Even many party members did not believe I would unveil the truth on PKFZ. But step by step I made the effort-until I set up the task force and leading to the police report lodged by PKA's Lee Hwa Beng," he added.

"I have anticipated that to reveal the truth on PKFZ, there will be adverse consequences. If one day I am transferred (from the transport ministry) or bow out, do not be surprised," Ong speculated on his future as transport minister.

Dear Datuk,
Ever since ur involvement in PKFZ case, many 'people' is trying to trouble you by bringing up all small issues. However, i hope you will hang on and continue to fight. We will support you silently from behind.

Yes, please take legal action if you think you are in the right. This matter is nothing personal, you have to act on this PKFTZ issue because you are the transport minister and this position comes from you being the current MCA President. It is your duty and responsibility to your ministry, party and nation. Stand firm if you are right.

YB Lim Kit Siang is trying to kill two birds with one stone with his police report. Maybe more. That is politic. Do as much damage as possible because he wants to save his own hide and DAP who are under investigation themselves by the MACC. Where got political friend from the opposition, DJ? Everybody have their own agenda. I am sure YB Ong can answer all those allegations level on him and comes clean otherwise he will not want to stick his head so far out. What for? With RM10 million, I also want to keep quiet. Why want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs?
