I have been informed that 21 elected MCA Central Committee members have resigned, paving the way for fresh polls within 30 days, as spelt out under the Party constitution.

Last night, thousands of predominantly Christians turned up at the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA) for a Chinese New Year celebration. I am touched by the encouraging response from  this community.

Kempen Bersepadu Keselamatan Jalan Raya Sempena Tahun Baru Cina bagi tahun 2010 telah bermula pada 21 Januari 2010 dan diteruskan semasa Ops Sikap XXI (21) dari 7 Februari hingga 21 Februari 2010. Kempen bersepadu ini melibatkan agensi-agensi Kerajaan seperti Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya, Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan, Polis DiRaja Malaysia, Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat, Agensi Anti-Dadah Kebangsaan, Lembaga Pelesenan Kenderaan Perdagangan, Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia, syarikat swasta seperti Lonpac Insurance dan Red Bull serta agensi bukan kerajaan seperti Kelab Marshal Keselamatan Jalan Raya dan Yayasan Belia Malaysia termasuk pihak media yang memberi liputan meluas sepanjang tempoh kempen tersebut.

One of the first National Key Results Area (NKRA) initiatives under the Government's Improvement of Urban Public Transport agenda is the introduction of RapidKL's four-car LRT trains for the Kelana Jaya line. I am pleased to note that this initiative has seen a very encouraging response from the public although it has only been in place for a short time.

These are deciding times for the future of our country. And more effectively than ever before, the people decide how our nation progresses. As our Prime Minister said, “Malaysia does not have the luxury of time to achieve Vision 2020 and we have heard the people’s demand for outcome, not just plans and inputs.” I strongly agree with this.

I refer to recent reports concerning the probe by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on the bus “graveyards” at bus depots in Serendah and Sungai Buaya.

This morning, the Federal court has made a ruling on the rightful Menteri Besar of Perak following prolonged legal and political battle which began last year.

I am now recuperating in hospital following a minor heel surgery and some abdominal problems. I feel bad to have missed out on so many functions and meetings over the past few days.
